Shots Fired – Shots Fired

Shots Fired

The Kansas City threesome is a touring machine, earning the title of “one of the hardest working bands” repeatedly by press articles. This year their efforts paid off as they landed expeditions on the Vans Warped tour and tours with Authority Zero.

The post-grunge record begins with “Cocaine,” a hard paced indie punk feeling anthem. Pouring smoothly into “Celebration,” this track starts slowly and builds into a whirlwind of explosions, interjected with simple musical pauses as shouting is devised as the instrument, and is then graced into piano shorts. It was this example of innovation along with others that made me wonder how it would be to experience the group’s live performances.

This self-titled debut was actually released by the band in June of last year but is expected to be released in the U.K. this September by Signature Tune. If you’re looking for some impressive post grunge, pick these guys up and perhaps they won’t stay DIY for long.
