A split CD aimed at recruiting new fans for both bands while hyping up the indoctrinated masses, Drive-Thru Records releases two songs each from The Early November and newcomers I Am The Avalanche on July 26th in anticipation of releases from both outfits in the upcoming fall and spring.
The first two tracks are from label stars The Early November. Firmly rooted in the emo-punk scene the first track is from their upcoming album. “Outside” is a mix of mournful lyrics over buzzing guitars and tom heavy drums. A catchy song, “Outside” dutifully gets the listener hyped over their next release, a triple (!) album slated for the presses in February of 2006. Their second contribution is a live version of “Ever So Sweet” off of their 2003 release The Room’s Too Cold. Backed by a vocal audience the love comes through the track beautifully in a sing along of immense proportions.
The second half of this duo-band album is given to newcomers I Am The Avalanche. Fronted by former The Movielife head honcho Vinnie Caruana. Both tracks are taken from Avalanche’s debut slated for release on September 27th of this year. Selected by the Alternative Press as one of their 100 Hundred Bands You Need To Know In 2005, I Am The Avalanche brings heavy guitars and a beat focused mindset to their first contribution “New Disaster”. The second song on the disc “I Took A Beating (Acoustic)” again highlights Vinnie’s stellar vocals and songwriting abilities. Mixing acoustic sensibilities with a fast paced song structure “I Took A Beating (Acoustic)” manages to portray an angst-ridden personality while keeping the melody and instrumentation firmly intact.
Although short, this sampler from Drive-Thru Records lets the listener in on their upcoming releases; showing them exactly what to expect from both bands while not giving too much away upfront. I Am The Avalanche is on tour this whole summer, stopping through Denver on July 19th giving you the listener a chance to also catch them in concert before their freshman release. The Early November recently played the three-day Bamboozle festival in New Jersey and currently are in the studio working on their February release.
