After years as a roadie, then stage manager for the likes of Kid Dynamite, Sick of it All, The Explosion, and Bouncing Souls, Dave Hause finally took the advice of his peers and followed his own dream of fronting a band. After recruiting fellow Philadelphians, and longtime friends Michael “Spider” Cotterman (bass), and Mike Sneeringer (Drums), his line-up was set, and within the blink of an eye, The Loved Ones recorded their self-titled debut EP on Jade Tree Records.
After touring religiously, the band went from obscure shows and side-stages to scoring prime opening slots for bands like Against Me!, NOFX, and Bad Religion. Not long after, they inked a deal with Fat Mike to release Keep Your Heart, their well deserved debut full-length on Fat Wreck.
You can definitely see the influences of bands like Kid Dynamite, and Lifetime, but they bring a lot of their own personality to the table, adding more straight up rock where the aforementioned bands injected more hardcore. There’s a sense of genuine emotion and urgency on this record that should serve them well, although with Fat having such a strong roster, they’re gonna have to choose their tours carefully so as not to get lost in the shuffle.
