David Bowie Celebrates His 66th Birthday With a New Album

Happy Birthday David Bowie!!!! “Time may change me, But I can’t trace time…” It was 40 years ago and a day, January 7, 1972, when David Bowie was about to enter what today is called the quarter-century crisis. Turning 25 was indeed a celebration, a crisis it was not since on this day RCA issued his first single “Changes/Andy Warhol.”

To celebrate the timeless iconoclast that is Mr. Bowie and his 66 years on this planet, there’s a new version of www.davidbowie.com, and, a new single released on iTunes, “Where Are We Now?” along with news of the first full-length album in 10 years, The Next Day, due out March.

Melding the past with the present, the video for “Where Are We Now” features imagery from Bowie’s days in West Berlin, where he worked with Brian Eno, roomed with Iggy Pop, and co-produced his ‘Berlin Trilogy’ albums with Tony Visconti, who also produced this new song. Directed by Tony Oursler, the video footage spans visuals of Bowie’s former ‘hood, including the auto repair shop near his apartment and West Berlin’s streets during that era of the mid-70s, complementing the track’s title that asks, “Where Are We Now?”

Bowie fans can pre-order The Next Day, which comes in a deluxe version that includes bonus tracks.
