SXSW Veterans Capsula Return to Austin via Santa Rosa

Capsula from Buenos Aires have become quite the regulars at SXSW, performing from 2008 to 2014, and now again in 2016. The band has their 11th album on the way this year, Santa Rosa.

Creeping into your ears with wicked tones of distortion, Capsula’s first single from the new album, “Dali’s Face,” quickly dives head first into a slathering of guitars and enough punk sonics to blow the Axe cologne off of today’s mainstream pop idols. A welcomed relief indeed.

The video takes the piñata party favor to a whole new rock and roll level, with glitter and silver tassels as far as the eye can see. Somewhere between a dream you want to last and last, and a Lynch-inspired nightmare, “Dali’s Face” wets the pallet for Capsula fans eagerly awaiting the group’s Austin showcases.

Bassist Coni Lisica, vocalist/guitarist Martin Guevara, and drummer Ignacio Villarejo, inspired by David Bowie’s “Space Oddity,” crafted the name Capsula when their band was formed in 1998. In 2012 the three-piece released their dedication to the music legend, Dreaming of Ziggy Stardust.

In dedication to David Bowie and his adoring fans around the world, here is Capsula cover of “Starman” recorded in San Sebastián in 2013 during the Dock of the Bay festival.
