“For the first time, The FADER FORT is expanding its programming to six full days, and two events,” said today’s SXSW 2016 announcement. Now in its 15th year, FADER FORT feels to be kicking it up a notch beyond the annual extravaganza within it’s musical compound during SXSW.
The expansion in programming will arrive on March 14 and 15, when a new sponsor joins the festivities as “Toyota Prius Presents The Arcade at The FADER FORT.” This specialized event will showcase the DNA of SXSW in terms of bringing music together with artistic expression, technology and innovation. It’ll be exciting to see what unfolds, experience what’s in the minds of today’s Makers, and how event sponsorship continues to evolve and engage with fans on the ground. Additional FADER FORT sponsors include Getty Images, Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey, Budweiser, and SiriusXM.
It’s wild that FADER FORT has been going for 15 years and to see it emerge as a true mixology of musical styles, artists, and their fans, where, as noted in the video for “This Is How FADER FORT Became An Institution” video, “Their audiences are getting to be exposed to each other. Their audience, now all of the sudden, is the same audience.” Yes, that mix of indie, alternative, hip-hop, rap, and rock are all shaken together and represent where music fanatics are today, listening to Viet Cong, Drake, Nathaniel Ratelliff & The Nightsweats, and Hinds all in one sitting.
When the musical programming kicks in on March 16 and runs through March 19, performers Metro Boomin, Sheer Mag, Davido, N.A.A.F.I, Desiigner, and Kamaiyah will be taking the stage. FADER FORT Presented by Converse is expected to announce an additional 30 acts over the next few weeks.
The FADER FORT is no longer a free for all, public RSVP event, continuing to be a guest list-only Sx party. “This year, guests will receive an invite via email. There will be no public RSVP, and private invites will be nontransferable. RSVP information for both events will be distributed to invited guests on Wednesday, March 2.”
If you can’t make it down to Sx or are not on the guest list, you can watch all the action from your computer in your pajagams via the FORT’s livestream at TheFADER.com.
