Now on its 9th year, the precursor to the Van’s Warped Tour line up is assembled on the SideOneDummy compilation, a two volume set of annual acts, Warped veterans, and new comers.

A veteran and new comer, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts introduces new material with “Five” off her Sinners release, which came out June of this year, and from the likes of this classic Jett track she’ll likely get the all ages crowd clappin’ and rockin’. A coincidental occurrence in song titles goes down, with Riverboat Gamblers’ “Don’t Bury Me…I’m Not Dead” and Helmet’s “Bury Me,” but it was good to have each band delivering their take.

American Eyes won’t be on the tour through Denver, but keep your eyes and ears open when they do come through town if you’re into the kicking, dance punksters The Adored, who will be in Denver, but doesn’t appear on the comp. Gogol Bordello, who seems to be a mainstay for festivals no matter what the format is, appears as well with “Not a Crime,” fused by a Fiddler on the Roof string section and reggae molasses.

Others that stray from the standard Warped formula of the millennium include Zox, Bedouin Soundclash and VCR, who blends the electro element with classic Ramones moxy.

With over 50 songs and a wide array of the 2006 imprint of punk, emo, rock and indie, it’s well worth the $7 or so dollars, whether you make it to Warped or not.
