KBuzz Video of the Day – Low – Try To Sleep

Low - Try to Sleep - KBuzz Video of the Day

In honor of Record Store Day, Low will be performing at Electric Fetus in Minneapolis on Saturday, April 16 at 4pm. This week in conjunction with the start of band’s tour and the release of Low’s new album, C’mon, a new video for “Try to Sleep” was uploaded by Sub Pop, starring…John Stamos?

Yes. John Stamos. With a vintage take on a Cary Grant era film, Mr. Stamos and his lady are “driving” in their convertible through on a windy road. And with most scenes like this, where while the man sings and gazes lovingly into his woman’s eyes, you’re yelling, “Watch the road! Watch the road!” as the car careens towards the side of a mountain.

It’s a bit tongue and cheek in that respect, but done quite well with a pallet of subdued greens and blues that complement the grace and lyrical rhythm of “Try to Sleep.” And thankfully, the video doesn’t tip a cliché hat to riding off into the sunset.

Stamos tells of how he become involved in the video project with Low, “I’m actually good friends with their producer Matt Beckley, and he had played me some of the record while they we’re making it, which I loved. Ironically it turns out I was a big fan of one of their older songs “Cue the Strings”… I’m a sucker for a well written song with great harmonies, and when it came time for them to cast the video, they asked if I’d like to be involved, I liked the concept I was happy to be a part of it.”
