KBuzz Video of the Day – Crystal Stilts – Through The Floor

The new video from Crystal Slits, “Through The Floor,” is simplistic, unassuming, but nonetheless hypnotic. If this video was created 10 years ago you would have thought each frame of celluloid was hand painted with a watercolor set. It’s the first single from In Love With Oblivion, due out next Tuesday, April 12 on Slumberland.

In just the first few seconds I was catapulted through time to when I was a kid. My groovy Aunt Stella (think Serena from “Bewitched”) had this set of speakers in her “lounge” that played kaleidoscope patterns to the rhythm of the music. I would kill for those speakers now.

As with the kind of timeless, recorded-in-a-bathroom/hollowed sound of “Through The Floor,” the colorful dance in the video glides you into a pseudo trance, allowing you to forget for just a moment, how nuts the world is right now. It’s certainly fitting of the new album’s title; a catalyst for living in oblivion and escaping from reality…like a Michel Gondry film. A welcomed invitation indeed.
