Boysetsfire – Before the Eulogy: Reissues, Odds and Ends, and Rarities

The veteran Delaware quintet, Boysetsfire have been through the mandatory ups and downs of every conscious rock band teetering the line between independent realism, and major label grandeur.

In a somewhat contrived, but crucial move, they release, a retrospective, if you will, documenting the first half of their career, aptly titled, Before the eulogy: reissues, odds and ends, rarities. It captures all the obscure and unreleased material they’ve released from their inception, throughout their trials and tribulations in-between releasing three full lengths on three different labels, as well as EP’s and European releases.

There’s some great stuff here, but only a must have for the die-hard fan. Their first two demos’ as well as the In Chrysalis EP in its entirety are here as well as their rendition of “Rocket Man” by Sir Elton John. Keep an eye out for their new record, The Misery Index: Notes from the plague years, out February 2006 on Equal Vision Records.
