Local band Boldtype has recently released their first CD, a ten-track pop-punk album in the vein of No Use For A Name.

Poppy and catchy, Boldtype make up in enthusiasm what they lack in experience and polish. Shades of Bad Religion, No Use, Strung Out and even Jimmy Eat World run through this album, so if you’re a fan of any of those bands, give it a spin. For the most part, they play personal music that you can dance to, leaving politics to others and stirring emotional chords instead.

A good solid effort for a first CD, and I hope that this will be the basis for many more polished and expansive albums.
