The Kaffeine Buzz Show – Episode 17

After experiencing numerous delays due to technical difficulties – from audio disappearing completely to the fray of my Mac’s power cord – here is Episode 17 of The Kaffeine Buzz Show.

I kind of hate the term Rocktober, ’cause it sounds as cheesy as the altitude in place of attitude pun here in Colorado (gag), but this month has been nothing but non-stop shows. Not just any shows, but truly amazing, fantastic, and at times, emotional shows, one after another. This episode recaps some of those gigs and includes the continuing tour dates for bands such as Two Door Cinema Club, the xx, John Talabot, along with a glimpse into what’s still coming our way both in tours and new music.

I also tapped a bit into this year’s CMJ conference and music festival. Although the workshops and panels are over, there is still a ton of music to take in if you’re out in New York, even more so than there usually is.

Ringo Deathstarr:
10/20 NYC @ Ding Dong Lounge (w/ Dead Leaf Echo)
10/21 Brooklyn, NY @ Shea Stadium
10/22 NYC @ The Cakeshop

Hundred Waters:

10/19 at Piano’s (set time 12:50am)

10/20 at Public Assembly (set time 11pm)

Saturday, October 20 – Fool’s Gold Five Year Anniversary:

If you weren’t able to attend, the consolation prize is a free CMJ Mixtape (http://www.cmj.com/mixtape/), comprised of bands featured at the festival.

P.O.S was forced to cancel his entire fall tour (with the exception of the First Avenue show on 10/26), which was set to start in support of his new album, We Don’t Even Live Here. According to a personal video P.O.S. released on Friday, October 19, he can no longer ignore the issues with his kidneys, which he’s been dealing with since he was a teen, and he needs to focus on getting a kidney transplant.

I played one of the new tracks from the album and will bring you more news as it becomes available. In the meantime, the album is set to release next week, so if you’re a P.O.S. fan or just a fan of supporting musicians in their time of need, go out and buy it.

Here’s a full stream of the album, made available by Minnesota’s public radio station:

On November 19, Hot Chip will be releasing an extended edition of their of In Our Heads, one of my top three albums of 2012. For Hot Chip fanatics like moi, this is an icing on the cake addition to your collection, including remixes from from Major Lazer, Optimo, Daphni and Moretime, AND some rare tracks and previously unheard demos.

Last but not least, The Kaffeine Buzz Show has become the latest edition to Hoxton Radio line up, an online radio station in Shoreditch, East London! We connected a few months back and I as a result, the Kaffeine Buzz  show has a new time slot starting next week, October 26, airing each Friday at 9am Mountain, 4pm GMT. You can listen to them online anytime, so I encourage you to do so. And their podcasts are also available Mixcloud.com, which you can hear both on your computer or on mobile via their iPhone app (not sure if Android is supported). More to come on this, so stay tuned!!

And thanks for listening!
