The Crookes sat down with Kaffeine Buzz today, theoretically speaking, via Skype (along with intermittent screen and audio freezes) to discuss the Sheffield band’s third album, Soapbox (out April 14 on Fierce Panda in the U.K, April 15 on Modern Outsider in the U.S.), and their third time back to Austin to perform a SXSW 2014.
In addition to another Soapbox track, “Play Dumb,” The Crookes have shown different mood, another facet to the album with the video release of “Holy Innocents,” a melancholy but beautiful tune just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Lead singer and bassist, George Waite, states the band has been chomping at the bit to get their new music out to fans and those just being introduced to The Crookes, “The lead up’s been such a long time, that we can’t really wait for everybody to hear it.”
So here it is. Grab yourself a box of chocolates, some wine, and settle into the soothing sadness of Daniel Hopewell’s (guitarist, backing vocals) lyrics. Hit repeat.
