A Lull – New Single “Some Love” and Winter 2012 Tour

Aside from annoying drum circles, drum-heavy songs and sounds, when done right, can take one to another place, back thousands of years to a time when the banging beats were first shot into our DNA. Chicago’s A Lull has the formula down, mixing up the skins sounds with lovely harmonies and understated instrumentation for a final affect that no doubt reigns on stage.

“Some Love” is the new single from A Lull’s Confetti, from the spring of 2011 and best represents the band’s percussion profession, along with “Weapons of War” and “Spread It All Around.” “Phem,” on the other hand, emphasizes Nigel Evan Dennis’ vocals and electronic tapestries, as does “White Girl.”

The Confetti Reprise EP followed in the summer of 2011, a seamless extension of the full-length debut in sound, style and mood.

A video has also been released for “Some Love,” which is playful in nature, as five people take a road trip detour to a country farm, complete with a blank canvas on the side of a barn, ready for colorful paint and open space for a bonfire dance. Or, they could have used the Up And Over hand dancers. But the beautiful people running around with sparklers works too.

News of A Lull’s live shows has spread far and wide as they’ve toured around this state and that, and we’re hear to spread the word that the band starts another U.S. tour with Deleted Scenes, a quartet from Washington D.C. this Thursday, January 12 in Lawrence, KS at the Replay Lounge, coming to Denver on Friday, January 13 to perform at Hi-Dive.
