Found Footage Festival Volume 3

Found Footage Festival

Found Footage Festival Returns to Denver with Volume 3 – Thursday, April 9 – CU Boulder / Friday, April 10 and Saturday, April 11 – Starz Filmcenter – Denver – 8:30pm

If you missed the Found Footage Festival that came to Denver last October, don’t worry your pretty little mullet. The festival dedicated to collected clips from found ‘80s and ‘90s video tapes is back and better than ever, and is coming to Starz once again this Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11.

Hosts Joe Pickett and Nick Preuher use their comedic sixth sense (which has secured them positions with The Onion and the Late Show with David Letterman) to pull the best and the brightest material from hundreds and hundreds of public access, training, exercise, and this time around, sexual harassment and “how to” video tapes for our viewing pleasure.

In a sense: they do the dirty work, so you don’t have to.

In Volume 3, those who may be considering parenthood may be deterred by the kiddie montage, featuring the “Super Duper Pooper” teaching your kid to ah, poop, a sex education animated film featuring a duck (yeah, I said duck), and one After School Special influenced piece on tweens learning to swear.

It may be a little early to start your Christmas list, and during these economic times this may be considered a luxury, but the sales video for the Washlete from Japan may have you putting your extra dollars in a jar for the convenient cleaning features this toilette that leaves your bum, twig and berries, or bird’s nest, more than fresh. Gone are the embarrassing dingle berries that turns that one-nighter into a 30-minuter. Just watch out for the invasion of suspicious androgynous ghosts.

Because of their dedication to the craft, Pickett and Preuher’s investigative reporting turns up an actual Washlete in use in a NYC restaurant, and they present their findings in the film.

Now, summer’s right around the corner. What better time to start a new exercise regimen? At the Found Footage Festival, you’ll get the latest (well, maybe not THE latest) and greatest tips from such exercise gurus as Estelle Getty and Angela Lansbury, all from the convenience of your theater seat while you’re munching on popcorn and slugging back some brewskies. Way to go, slugo.

Talkin’ Beards – guest Chris Elliot takes more viewer calls

Submitted by a “mysterious” contributor from Denver, the San Francisco public access show “Something’s Happening” features Arthur Brown using grape juice to extract an alien substance from his mouth. I can’t explain it anymore than that. You have to see it to believe it.

Found Footage never disappoints when it comes to training videos, and back with a sequel is “Grill Skill” and other employee training clips that give us even more insight on doing our best when it comes to cleaning up fast food messes and making the perfect sandwich, all to the tune of a funky beat.

With the upmost modesty, we get a peek into the host’s struggles as hunks, and into their own public access shows, including Pruer’s “Talkin’ Beards,” now celebrating its 500th episode, and Pickett’s “Joe Crobatics!”

But wait! There’s more…
