Killswitch Engage are touring and performing veterans, but tonight, April 17, the band ventures into new ground during their Killthrax Tour with Anthrax. For the first time the Killswitch show (Anthrax will not be included) will be broadcast live in virtual reality from Houston’s House of Blues starting at 11pm CT.
For Killswitch fans to have this first-ever virtual experience live as it’s happening, they’ll need to use either the Google Daydream VR headset (which requires a Google Pixel phone or compatible device) or Samsung Gear VR, and download the NextVR app.
This live streaming VR concert is part of the partnership between Live Nation and NextVR, who together have produced live virtual reality performances of Thievery Corporation, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, and Galactic, with more VR shows slated for the rest of the year.
The Killswitch Engage show tonight will incorporate several camera shots and angles, similar to 2D live streaming productions, but with a fully immersive visual and audio front-stage House of Blues experience from anywhere around the globe, with the exception of China. Bonus: this virtual ticket to the show is also free.
