Datarock returned to Denver to play the Gothic with Ladytron this past Tuesday, June 3. This was quite a different show from their Denver debut at the Hard Rock Cafe last fall, where they played to a intimate crowd amongst the smell of hamburgers and fries.
The one thing that did remain was their intensity and all-around-good-time level of performance, enticing most of the audience to shake and pounce to “Bulldozer” and “Fa-Fa-Fa,” not including the deadbeat standers in the front.
Ketil Mosnes had to release himself from the confines of his red hoodie to make his sax scream, which caused a number of ladies to scream back.
Ladytron followed with a more somber set. But the floor was packed to the gills, full of fans ready to embrace their new material, including the opening song “Black Cat” from the album Velocifero that dropped that day, along with classics “CSKA Sofia,” “Seventeen,” and “Destroy Everything You Touch.”
When Ladytron left the stage, the party was all but over, as fans moved next door to the Falcon for the Up The Antics Rock ‘n’ Bowl that offered up free drinks and DJ skills from Ket-Ill, Fredrik Saroea, Boyhollow and DJ Danger.
Guys and gals got to try out the fully decked out Matrix cars parked out front, which were all equipped with crazy stereo gear and a Guitar Hero styled music game that ran out of the back. Bowling types, including Mira Aroya from Ladytron, got competitive in the lanes as the party continued on the other side of Falcon. This is where I also learned from Tyler (DJ Danger) from Lipgloss about the new League Night that starts next Tuesday, June 10 at Falcon.
