Body Language – February 14 – Bar Standard

On the heels of the success of 2011’s Social Studies LP, which garnered positive reviews from NPR, The New York Times, and The Guardian UK, Body Language returned last year with a new album entitled Grammar.

This, their second full-length, finds the band embodying the dance floor pop we’ve come to love from them. With sunny, soulful grooves that take as much inspiration from old school R&B, and Soul, as it does fellow Indie dance troupes like We Have Band, Van She, Dragonette, and Penguin Prison.

Body Language is doing a short stint on the road, playing a live set in Denver at Bar Standard on Friday, February 14th. So for those of you with a special date take them out for a great show, and those of you who hate the Hallmark B.S. of this holiday, come out and get sweaty and bring the whole anti-Valentine’s crew with. This show will definitely be one not to miss; ask anyone who saw them in 2012 when they opened for Hood Internet at the Walnut Room in Denver.

As it is always so much better when the genre-bending dance based groups play live as opposed to performing “DJ Sets,” which many artists love to do these days, I will always prefer the live rendition of original dance music productions versus watching someone from that group simply DJ their tracks. For the fan, it makes for a highly more engaging and fun experience.

For those of you who reside in the Big Apple, or for you Denverites that happen to be visiting New York City, don’t miss Body Language doing a FREE show at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar on Friday, February 28 along with Joywave, The Echo Friendly, and Jamaican Queens.
